New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party`s prime ministerial candidate and star campaigner Narendra Modi on Saturday mocked at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram over rising prices at an election rally in Delhi on Saturday. Addressing a rally here, Modi said that this time the elections are being fought by the people. Describing elections as a festival of democracy, the BJP leader said that what can be better than the people themselves fighting the elections. Raising the poll pitch in the national capital, BJP’s PM nominee said that political parties must give answers to the people and tell the public what they did during their regime. Coming down hard at the Congress, Modi said, “Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh and Madhya Pradesh CM ShivrajSingh Chouhan went among the people and informed them about the work they did in their respective states. But Congress leaders of Delhi and Rajasthan are arrogant as they are not willing to answer the people.” Modi asked the gathering, “Delhi has such big leaders of the Centre. Should they not meet you, address you and talk to you.” Further attacking the Congress, Modi said that it has become a fashion for the grand old party to demand answers from Gujarat even if elections are in any other state. Criticising the Congress for trying to malign his government, Modi said that all the allegations, abuses made by the ruling party in Gujarat went in vain. He cautioned Congress not to try you such tricks anywhere. Modi said people don’t trust Congress because of the sins committed by the grand old party. Taking a dig at his critics, Modi said, “Some people ask me about my vision, but they never ask the Congress.” Further hitting out, the BJP leader Modi said that one reason why they don’t question may be they think BJP is coming to power Delhi or they want to save the Congress. Hitting out at the Manmohan Singh led-government, the BJP leader said that during Atal Behari Vajpayee’s rule there was no rise in prices, but because of Congress’ misrule prices have scaled new heights. Taking on Union Minister Kapil Sibal, Modi said, “One minister in the government thinks he has got all the brains in the world and the others are brainless. He said prices are rising because poor are eating two ‘subzis’ now.” “Tell me, are prices rising due to this,” Modi asked the people assembled at the rally. The crowd replied with a big NO. In what can be seen as an attempt to mock Dr Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram, Modi said: “This dream team was appreciated. But have they not ruined the nation.” “Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a big economist, we never comment on that aspect. Chidambaram is also very educated, we never challenge that,” said Modi. He also accused the Congress of spreading rumours that power is expensive in Gujarat than in Delhi. The BJP leader said that the root of all problems is bad governance and the Congress is not concerned about governance. Taking on Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi for repeatedly boasting about Land Acquisition Bill, Right to Education and Food Security Bill, Modi said that in future the Congress may even make acts on breathing and drinking water. Taking on Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on her home turf, Modi said: “2010 Commonwealth Games were an opportunity to enhance the country’s brand, but what happened - only money was stolen and we lost an opportunity to project Delhi in the international scenario.” Urging people to vote for the BJP, Modi said the party is promising good governance under the leadership of an honourable and honest person Dr Harsh Vardhan. Modi will also address a rally on December 01 that is scheduled to take place in Ambedkar Nagar in south Delhi at 4 pm and will cover nine constituencies. Delhi with 70 Assembly seats will go to polls on December 04 and results will be out on Dec 08. "If Bihar and UP were developed in the last 60 years, would people leave their family and come to Delhi for work? he asked in a bid to connect with migrants. "Migrants from Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh are also in Surat and the city was awarded for best maintained city," he said, adding Congress government does not have the intention to do anything for them.
